Lead generation is a high priority to any business owner who wants to grow their business. You need a certain amount of leads in order to meet your minimum sales requirement. There’s a direct correlation between the amount of leads you generate and the sales you acquire. More leads equals more sales, and social media marketing helps to boost leads.

Twitter and Lead Generation

The debate between whether small business owners should focus on initiating and maintaining conversations on Twitter, or use it as a broadcast tool, affects how you approach Twitter for lead generation.  Both methods will generate leads, but “broadcasting” sales, discounts, article titles and giveaways will generate leads faster. The response is also immediate, which means you need to prepare your website or blog to capture those leads.

Facebook and Lead Generation

The same holds true for Facebook, although discussions on Facebook are more effective for business purposes than conversations held on Twitter. It’s hard to translate interest in discussions into lead generation, but that should be the purpose of every discussion you initiate. Develop a plan for how to capture the leads you generate on Facebook.

YouTube and Lead Generation

You can do more than link to your website on your YouTube channel for lead generation. Respond to comments with helpful tips and information. Answer questions or clarify aspects of your video. Some users will follow up with you and visit your website, or contact you directly to learn more about your products or services.

Make more money by improving your plans for lead generation. Social media marketing is your ticket to more leads.

I am currently using facebook and twitter for my business and I think they’re quite effective. I haven’t tried Youtube yet. Do you think creating videos for youtube can be time consuming? Can it generate more leads than facebook and twitter?

Social Media Marketing: I have so much to say about it. I’ll start with that all my close friends are talking about it and start investing their time on it and now this is their occupation – Social Media Marketing! I can see their “job” non-stop at the news page of my facebook – personally I don’t believe it will go good for them but I’d like to see how it will go for them. I’ll send this great post to all my friends for 2 reasons:
1. This post is awesome for my friends.
2. They won’t be able to come to me and tell me that I don’t care/help :)

Thanks again for a great post!

I know of two local businesses who rely on facebook and twitter to get nearly 90% of their business. One is an auto repair shop, the other a restaurant promoter. Of course once I get them on the first page of Google Maps that % will go down. :)
